THE RENT AWARD 

After reading an article about a music video director who said that she couldn't pay her rent due to the unfortunate reality of low music video budgets, we wanted to find a way to continue providing inspiration to the many artists who are dedicating their lives to creating without feeling discouraged. The Rent Award provides €10,000 to the winning music video director so they can have their rent paid for one year and focus on art without the stress of figuring out how to pay their rent. Though we feel €10,000 is not nearly enough, we hope it is encouraging.

The Rent Award is separate from the Best Director categories, as we want to provide this award to someone who hasn't yet achieved significant financial success but has proven they have the creativity and talent to launch a successful career in filmmaking. Artists who wish to enter this particular category must submit three music videos along with a personal description of their journey as an artist.
